Biography[]

Origins[]

I'm gonna count to ten.

–Owen Davian threatening Ethan during his interrogation, Mission: Impossible III

Owen Davian is the most infamous black market dealer who commonly makes use of specialized micro-explosives which, once planted in the skulls of hostages or exposed undercover agents, enable the disposal of an individual with ease without harming others. Davian's plan is to ultimately find a mysterious dangerous object known only as the Rabbit's Foot and sell it to a terrorist group.

Operation: Rabbit's Foot and Death[]

In 2006, Davian's illegal activities prompted the IMF to dispatch field agent Lindsey Farris to spy on him, as the man was considered high priority. Unfortunately, Farris ends up being exposed and captured by Davian's men, after which she is held for three days in a German factory, where she has a micro-explosive bomb implanted inside her head. Farris is rescued by Ethan Hunt and his team, but Davian triggers the bomb remotely, detonating it before Ethan is able to disarm it, instantly killing her. Later on, Ethan and his team plans to kidnap Davian himself, and promptly head to the Vatican to intercept him at a charity event being held inside its walls.

While he's in a bathroom, Davian is ambushed by Ethan donning a face-mask of his likeness, who obliges him to read a text in order to acquire voice print data to complete his disguise, after which the rest of the team transports the arms trafficker to safety. Due to a delay in analyzing Davian's voice, Ethan almost ends up being discovered by Davian's bodyguard.

Davian later regains consciousness on an IMF plane, facing Ethan and his colleague, Luther Stickell. He quickly surmises that Ethan was the man who attacked him, and starts making threatening and psychopathic remarks during his questioning. Ethan eventually loses his patience and almost drops him from the plane, but Luther intervenes and saves Davian's life, convincing Ethan he is of more use to them alive. Davian makes one final statement afterwards, claiming that what he is selling and who he is selling it to should be the last of Ethan's concerns. Davian's contempt for Ethan would only continue to grow from this point onward.

While being transported in an armored van, presumably enroute to an IMF safe-house, the convoy is attacked by Davian's men. They successfully rescue Davian, despite the efforts of Ethan, his team and the other IMF agents.

Davian, staying true to the threats he made, kidnaps Ethan's recently-wedded wife, Julia Meade-Hunt, through his IMF-embedded henchman Kimbrough before calling Ethan, explaining to him that he has 48 hours to recover the Rabbit's Foot for him or else Julia will die. Ethan switfly tracks the Rabbit's Foot to China, where he re-acquires it.

Ethan is then asleep by Kimbrough asking him to drink something, and when he wakes up he is facing Davian and Brownway, another henchman. Brownway lodged an explosive charge in Ethan's head, as he did with Lindsey, and interrogates him by holding Julia hostage. Finally, he kills Julia and leaves with Brownway. John Musgrave, an agent of the IMF who is apparently the ally of Davian, reveals that it was only the translator of Davian. Ethan dominates Musgrave and steals his cell phone to contact IMF agent Benji Dunn to guide him to Davian. Ethan reaches the hideout of Davian, beats two armed guards revealing the real Julia who is gagged. Davian intervenes, triggers the countdown of the micro-explosive in Ethan's head and savagely beats him, kicking and dragging him through the room. He then takes a pistol to kill Julia. Unfortunately for Davian, Ethan attacks him and gains the upper hand, knocking the terrorist through a door into the street, where he is hit by a car
