John Chaddick McCloy (born September 30, 1952) is a major antagonist in the 2000 action/thriller film Mission: Impossible II. He is a businessman, the CEO of an Australian-based pharmaceutical firm named Biocyte Pharmaceuticals and Sean Ambrose's business partner.
Biography[]
Early life and career and meeting Sean Ambrose[]
John Chaddick McCloy was born in Manchester, England on September 30, 1952. In 1989, he acquired Biocyte in a hostile takeover and, as of 1996, he became the CEO of the pharmaceutical firm Biocyte in Australia and the boss of Russian scientist Vladimir Nekhorvich, with his entrepreneurial instincts occasionally overwhelming his financial acumen, causing him to overextend himself in his attempt to pay and trade the world with pharmaceutical market.
Later, McCloy meets Impossible Mission Force operative Sean Ambrose and becomes his business partner, as the two develop a secret project called "Project Chimera" in an unofficial capacity, manufacturing the Chimera virus.
Chimera Mission[]
A few days before Chimera mission, McCloy injectes Dr. Sergei Gradski with Chimera virus. After Nekhorvich is killed by Ambrose and his henchmen, the businessman meets his partner at a horse racing event to purchase Chimera and its cure, Bellerophon, from him, but the terrorist doesn't manage to secure the deal.
Later, in Sydney, Ethan Hunt and his IMF team kidnappes McCloy to force him to give up Bellerophon and managed to get some vital infomation. However, they learn that the only samples of Bellerophon were taken by Nekhorvich, and now Ambrose has them. As a result, Ambrose forces McCloy to exchange a sample of the virus for a sample of Bellerophon.
Later, Ambrose forces McCloy to accept the money and almost seizes the virus when "Hugh" appears with "Ethan". McCloy witnesses Ambrose's killing of "Ethan", which is actually the real Hugh and Ambrose is horrified of what he has done to his best colleague.
McCloy's final fate is not revealed in the screen and remains a mystery. However, he is possibly arrested by Australian authorities if the IMF exposes the Chimera project and his involevment in this operation.

McCloy is a ginger. He is very ruthless business man. He has no reservations injecting one of his own scientists with the Chimera virus to see how deadly it is. He is also a very selfish man, who does not want anyone else to share in his profits and ownership of his company. He hates being blackmailed by Sean Ambrose.
