Biography

Alexander Golitsyn is an agent of the Impossible Mission Force who has been tasked with posing as a traitor to the rest of the team to determine the identity of the genuine mole. At the beginning of the film, an information tape sent to Jim Phelps states that Golitsyn is an American attaché at the Prague Embassy in the Czech Republic, who sold half of a list of undercover agents in Central Europe and intended to steal the second half of the list at a party. The Phelps team is then deployed to Prague to arrest Golitsyn and prevent him from recovering the second part. The spies watch the false traitor take the list and one of them, Sarah Davies, follows him in the streets of the city before they are both stabbed by Franz Krieger, the henchman of Phelps, through a door. Ethan later meets Eugene Kittridge, the IMF secretary, at a bar and learns the truth about Golitsyn.
